10 AMAZING THINGS TO DO IN GALLE DUTCH FORT ,
Onshore white Lighthouse is one of the most famous feature @ Galle Dutch Fort,Sri Lanka. This is a paradise for photographers.
The Galle Onshore Lighthouse was first built by the British in 1848 which is burned down in 1934. It was a 24.4 metre high (80 ft) iron lighthouse. The Lighthouse which could be seen today was built in 1939 and it is 26.5-metre high (87 ft) concrete lighthouse.
This historic Lighthouse in Galle is operated and maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
2.National Maritime Museum,Galle
Maritime Museum was first opened to the public on 9 May 1992 and is located in a Dutch Warehouse(in 1671) above the Old Gate of Galle Fort.
The museum suffered significant damage from the 2004 Asian tsunami.
On 4 March 2010, it was reopened as the country’s first National Maritime Archaeology Museum.
The original Dutch warehouse building was fully renovated under a special grant of Rs. 177 million from the Kingdom of the Netherland
